How many Fantasy Football leagues did I sign up for?

I remember when I first started playing fantasy football.  I was asked to join a group of guys that worked in the youth department at the church I attended.  I had no clue what I was doing.  I got lucky and had the 4th pick of the draft and saw Terrel Davis slide to me (with Kordell Stewart and Steve Young having gone before him…we were all stupid and without a clue).  This was also the same year that Brad Johnson went down and Randall Cunningham took over and lead an explosive Vikings offense.  I was also lucky enough to get in on that action, picking Randall up off the waiver wire.

This was before online leagues, when we actually had to sit there with paper and pencil and manually calculate the scores on Monday morning.  I can’t imagine doing what I did this year (joining 5 leagues) under those conditions.  The waiver wire alone would be brutal.

Getting roped into 5 fantasy football leagues

It’s really more than I had intended to do.  I joined one last year that’s a 20 owner league (24 last year) and the two 10 team conferences each hold their own draft.  So it’s theoretically possible for two identical teams to face each other in the.  I finished 4th in that league last year, the live draft is a blast, and it’s a pretty soft league.  They also had an opening in the main league that these guys play in and I jumped at the chance to get into that one.  I also signed up for 2 more leagues being run by friends I would have dropped the one with no buy in, but I’m the defending champ, so what are you going to do.

Then I saw the last league I got into.  I don’t read twoplustwo much anymore, but I’m really liking the new TWSS forum over there.  I first found out about it because my friend Katie was made a moderator, so I swung by to check it out.  It turns out the have a nice little community over there so I pop in every now and again.

They decided to get a league going and I chimed in that if they needed someone to fill a space, I’d be interested.  So with a little wrangling they managed to get an 8 team league together in time for this week.

Coming into tonight’s action I’m 3-1 with 1 that’s too close to call, but I’m feeling pretty confident in.  Of course the 1 loss was in the TWSS league, where I ran into the buzz saw that is the team that put up the highest point total for the week, by a healthy margin.  It’s very possible that I’ll put up the 2nd highest total for the week and still take the L.  It’s tough to win when the only player for your opponent that DIDN’T put up 10pts or more is their kicker.  Such is life.
